YO! Howzit?! Back for another edition of Stuff I Like (always so eloquent). To start things off....this.. Because, well... OBVIOUSLY.
In an effort to tear myself away from the television (my other true love), I've enrolled in knitting and guitar classes that begin next week. I like that....A LOT. I know my travel schedule for work will not be an issue this time around as, wouldn't you know it, we're over spent on our travel budgets for 2012, so any meetings will be held via Live Meeting (which, ironically, is the opposite of actually meeting live - think PJ's and 8 hour conference calls). These classes are going to be at the Monterey Centre, so you KNOW I'm going to be the youngest person there. And probably the coolest. As per my Twitter handle, I am a Real Hip Lady, y'know.
HOWEVER, I'm super into Damages right now. I'm most of the way through Season 1, and hot damn, I love me some Glenn Close (if you have never seen the classic Dangerous Liasons..what are you doing with your life????). My understanding is that each season focuses on a different case, and season 1 is soooooooooooooo good. I'm watching it right now, in fact. MULTI TASK FTW!
Husband and I also recently got back on the Breaking Bad train as well. In fact, we spent ALL DAY SUNDAY watching Breaking Bad. ALL. DAY. Like, from 1030 am to like 1030 pm. 12 hours of Netflixin was what I needed after over-indulging in the Insley family plonk at my bestie's engagement party. My head hurt, a lot and I felt like I had run a marathon the day before...thanks to 4 glasses of homebrew.
But I don't only watch TV, you guys.
I started running intervals again on a whim. LOVE intervals. Or, more accurately, I love intervals as much as someone like myself can love exercise. I'm NOT getting back together with running, but intervals and I are definitely flirting. I'm too much of an exercise commitment-phobe to say THIS IS IT, but for now, this is what I am loving. In conjunction with biking, and walking, and...nope, that's it. People keep saying how AMAZING I look (thank you thank you), but really and truly I haven't been doing anything all summer except keeping track of my steps, thanks to my trusty pedometer. I ditched the scale again, because it was bad for my motivation, if you can believe that. I'd work so hard, and eat so well, and I'd see hardly any of that work reflected on the scale. My clothes were fitting better, and my face was getting thinner, and I was feeling amazing, so that's what really counts, in the end. That and compliments, OBVIOUSLY.
I like compliments.
I just finished listening to Insurgent by Veronica Roth, which is the followup to Divergent. Both are excellent, and make for a good companion to my walks. Yes, it's YA fiction (young adult), but I'm technically still a young adult (like really, think about it....I'm not an OLD adult yet, so I must be a YOUNG adult), so it's totally my shit. I enjoy the audiobook format - up next is Nefertiti by Michelle Moran. Looking forward to getting back into some historical fiction.
I'm currently reading Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk. Not loving it. It's not a book that I "just can't put down", so it's taking me a long time to read it. I finally got my Kindle back from my mom and I have a few good gems on there I need to dig into, so I'm excited about that. I feel at a loss when I don't have a good book to dig into. I really REALLY like my Kindle.
LOVING the new CLEAR for women shampoo and conditioner. Yes, I get it for free (yay for sales samples), but even my picky husband is on board with this (though I'm not sure he realizes there is a men's and a women's format, but he INSISTS on having the Total Care Shampoo and Conditioner in the shower {ladies version, shhh} because otherwise he has bad hair days). It's all about scalp nutrition, but in addition to healthy scalps, we also have fabulous locks. Now, I haven't cut my hair since November 2011, and James isn't too far behind. And yet, I get a lot of compliments (see? love those) on my hair. My split ends are virtually non-existent, and my hair is healthy and long. Clear is awesome. Hit me up for some samples.
That was SO not a promotional push dudes, but I use what I have on hand, and I am also lucky enough to get Nexxus brand sent to my door, and it's also an awesome, salon quality brand. I dig it. A LOT. It's on rotation next, after my CLEAR runs out {because I don't like my hair to get bored}.
Lastly, but not leastly, I like September. I like it for it's weather....it's a transition month you see...when summer turns to fall, but generally the days are GORGEOUS and each sunny day is a blessing. September heat just feels...sensual to me. I'd like to make a baby this month. Workin on it! WINK!
There are many birthdays, festivals and things to look forward to. Husband turns 35 on Friday. THIRTY FIVE?! WHAT.....the....FUCK. We met when he was 18. How does this happen so fast?! Anyways, us young adults are having a house party! And I really like house parties. And friends. And music and food.
On Sunday, it's Feast of Fields time! I look forward to this every year because I get to gorge on food and wine in a field....I really like that. A LOT. We're sad to miss Rifflandia this year (seriously Rifflandia, what's with changing the weekends??), but in all honestly the only person I wanted to see was Reggie Watts, and he is only playing Sunday, and I'll be too busy stuffing my face hole.
That was a lot of random thoughts for this Wednesday afternoon edition of Stuff I Like, but there you have it.

I like you. And your blog. And congrats on the running...I just started again this morning myself and it felt great. Bring on fall! :-)
ReplyDeleteYes! I LOVE intervals, and I will hold on to that love as long as possible...which may only be mere weeks. Good luck on the marathon training!
DeleteHave you watched Homeland? I'm just finishing up season 1 and season is just around the corner. Claire Danes is amazing in it!
ReplyDeleteIt's on the list of things to watch! I hear so many amazing things about it!
DeleteI found your blog through Heathe at Kiss My Broccoli, and I'm digging your style. You are very funny. I'm reading 50 shaded of grey right now (yes very important literature), but it goes with your sultry September. Thanks for making me laugh.
ReplyDeleteHi Megan,
DeleteThanks for stopping by! If anything, I try to be as hilarious as possible. I too read 50 Shades (or, more accurately listened to it), and it was sultry indeed!
