I had the pleasure of going out for drinks tonight with two wonderful ladies from my past.
I have known Kate since I was about three. We grew up in the same neighborhood, and were fast friends for years and years until the end of junior high, when I met a boy, and because we went to different schools, the time that I used to spend with her after school, I started to spend with him {not that I TOTALLY regret that decision, as it IS the boy I ended up marrying, but I regret not making more time for her...oh, silly 15 year old girl, your priorities were so predictable}.We lost touch for the most part, until the end of our 20's and early 30's and now we live in the same neighborhood AGAIN, so we try to get together and catch up every once in a while. I really hope we can do it more because I thoroughly enjoy her company.
I have known Simone since elementary school. Not well, as she was in french immersion and I was an anglophone, but I knew her through Kate. It's been years and YEARS since I have actually seen her in person {we figured last night it was probably grade 7 graduation in 1993?!}, but we have also reconnected over the last year thanks to the magic of the interwebs - Facebook, Twitter, and her awesomely fabulous blog, Skinny Dip. She gets to write about sexy times, sexy toys, and sexy outfits. I dig it.
The three of us have been trying to get together for some time now, and we finally managed it last night. Kate and I walked downtown to meet Simone at The Clay Pigeon for drinks and dinner. I had a fantastic time catching up with these two. The conversation spectrum ranged from "how many sex partners is too many" to "purple drank". Love these topics.
The conversation was fantastic, and the food and drink was awesome too! Not a LOT of choices for a gluten free girl, so I did indulge in a little gluten last night. I had the Yam tartlette over warm broccoli and lentil salad, and it was really delicious. Kate had a kale caesar salad with the daily soup. Simone drank martinis. I'd totally recommend all of these things, specifically the Saint Henricks martini. The atmosphere is also cozy, but cool. It makes for a fantastic place for an upper casual meal or drinks with friends.
I hope to catch up with these ladies again soon!!
