I have been fighting a cold since the holidays, and it caught up with me last week. I'm back to sniffles and coughs, but I'm past the contagious phase so don't worry - you can bring me treats and I won't infect you. In my old age, all of my colds go to my sinuses and cause post nasal drip, so they just looooove to hang on. I feel like hell when I wake up in the morning, but am fine during the day, so it's pretty much business as usual (plus nasal steroids).
So, back to my awesome weekend. I am in the habit of starting my weekend with a yoga class on Friday afternoons. I take my lunch break a little later in the day and hit the studio for a good practice. I find it sets me up for the weekend, and makes me feel better about whatever I might do (or not do) to my body in the next two days. This past Friday's class was intense - a lot of downward dog (but not as much as today - I counted 17 downward dogs...wtf!), but enjoyable. I left feeling refreshed and ready to finish the day's work and prepare for the weekend.
The hubby had a flex day Friday, so he went surfing, then went into work to finish up some important things. He came home with sushi and we watched Cedar Rapids on Netflix in bed. It was the perfect, relaxing Friday night after a hectic week.
I got a text on Friday night from my friend Liv, who asked 'Day drunk at the Beagle tomorrow?' (because the Canucks were playing Boston at 10 am). I replied "Nope, not I. Not drinking right now". This awesome resolve lasted through the night, but ended as soon as I woke up and all I could think about was having a Caesar, so we decided to have breakfast at The Beagle, and I downed two spicy caesars while watching the Canucks feed it to Boston (sweet revenge).
We ended up at our friends L&D's house for a late afternoon board game of Dixit (new favorite game alert!), another caesar (Dallas makes them with pickle juice and they were INSANELY GOOD) or two, dinner (we brought salmon and the boys cooked up a delicious meal while Lai and I drank some wine), and then a movie. Dallas wanted to watch a post-apocalyptic film and I am always happy to do that, so we settled on something called Stake Land, which turned out to be pretty good (end of the world AND vampires? Check), even though it starred Eric from Gossip Girl. Lowered expectations = better experience.

| My favorite new game! |
It was a lovely, casual Saturday and we were in bed by 11, reading our books. Bliss!
The hubby got up early Sunday to head out surfing again, while I got up later after a glorious sleep in. But! It was Super motivated Sunday, so I went grocery shopping and got all the ingredients for dinners this week. I was craving lasagna - so I made the world's most expensive lasagna (the joys of living gluten free and cows milk free) and a big salad for dinner that night (and lunches this week). I took down the Christmas tree and decorations and put them away for another year. I cleaned. All before 2 pm.
James came home and we decided to go to a late afternoon movie - we settled on Hugo in 3D, which was beautifully filmed, and a lovely little story. Slow in parts, but generally enjoyable. It's set in Paris in the 20's or 30's and so we felt particularly nostalgic for our favorite city in the world. It seemed to me that it was Scorsese's whimsical tribute to cinema and film - and a fine tribute it was.Suitable for children and adults, it's something everyone can enjoy.
Sunday night was spent waiting for the lasagna to cook, and reading our books, listening to CBC and enjoying a glass of shiraz by the fire.
It was a perfect weekend. How was your weekend?
